Soldier Ride is a program that provides cycling opportunities across the country for wounded warriors. All participants suffering from a disability are provided with the adaptive equipment they need to cycle. The soldiers are able to feel active and have fun, but they are also able to show society how much they have sacrificed for their country and how brave they truly are

Four years ago the WWP and the FIDF started their collaboration, and since then, they have a yearly cycling tour in New York. The joined ride was a symbol of the support and the solidarity between the American and Israeli soldiers, fighting together, in different parts of the world, against terror.

2010 is the first time that the joined ride comes to Israel. At October 13th, 20 wounded soldiers arrived to Israel for an 11 day cycle tour across the country.
Israeli wounded soldiers will escort their American visitors, and will cycle with them.

Biking – from Kibutz Gat to Jerusalem hills, visit at the National Center for commemoration of the Armored Corps soldiers that were killed in Latrun and visit IDF Infentary unit Nachshon.

Nicht zuletzt das Klonschaf Dolly und das in den USA in Angriff genommene Human Genome Project haben der Bevölkerung ungeahnte Möglichkeiten der Steuerung biologischer Vorgänge durch den Menschen suggeriert und die Utopie einer schönen neuen Welt wieder aufleben lassen. In Zeiten leerer Sozialkassen und zunehmender Kosten der therapeutisch orientierten Medizin erscheinen die Möglichkeiten einer präventiven Genmedizin überaus verlockend und kostengünstig. Bertold Brecht lässt seinen Macheath in der Dreigroschenoper singen: Erst kommt das Fressen, dann kommt die Moral. Dieser alte Satz scheint sich auch in diesem Zusammenhang als Binsenwahrheit zu bestätigen. Der Genetik scheinen keine Grenzen gesetzt und schon wird in der Öffentlichkeit nicht mehr nur über die Grenzen des Machbaren, sondern auch über die finanziellen Aspekte des menschlichen Erbgutes diskutiert. Dieses Denken in Bezug auf eine kostengünstige präventive Genmedizin ist nicht neu. Zu Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts hatten sich ähnliche Ideen unter der Bezeichnung Rassenhygiene in der westlichen Welt popularisiert. Voller optimistischer Vorstellungen und mit der Utopie eines besseren Lebens entwickelte sich aus der Fiktion im Laufe der Jahre eine institutionalisierte Wissenschaft. Die Verbrechen des Nationalsozialismus haben gezeigt, wie eine einst gut gemeinte Utopie sich verkehren kann in menschenverachtende Politik. Bei allen Segnungen und Vorteilen, die uns die neue Technik der Genforschung bringen kann und wird, darf doch nie vergessen werden, dass Individualität zu gerne einem einheitlichen Schönheitsideal oder Gesundheitsideal geopfert wird. Die folgende Arbeit soll Aufschluss darüber geben, inwiefern die Rassenhygiene in Deutschland mit ihrer Ideologie als ein deutsches Produkt gesehen werden kann oder ob es sich um ein internationales Phänomen handelt. Des Weiteren wird aufgezeigt wie sich die Rassenhygiene im Nationalsozialismus vom Gesetz zur Verhinderung erbkranken Nachwuchses über die damit verbundenen Zwangssterilisationen vom Mord an tausenden geistig und körperlich behinderten Menschen in Deutschland bis hin zum Massenmord an dem jüdischen Volk in Europa ausweitete und ob in dieser Entwicklung überhaupt ein Zusammenhang zwischen rassenhygienischen Programmen und Holocaust besteht.
